The M.L. Lynch Story
A love of hunting is the foundation of the Lynch game call business. Mike Lynch grew up in a family that would "leave a perfectly good supper to grab their guns and go chase another one."
Experimenting with calls in the tradition of box call pioneer Henry C. Gibson. Lynch took to the road in the '40s, selling his walnut and mahogany game calls out of the trunk of his car. Claiming that he was "never bested" in a turkey calling contest. Lynch put the stamp "World Champion" on his calls.
In 1958, a youngster approached Mike Lynch with a home made box call. Tentatively, he asked for a critique from the master. Lynch was perhaps none too gentile with the 14 year old, but a dozen years later, that youth purchased the company. Today, company president, Allen Jenkins, is a recognized Grand Master in his own right.
Mike Lynch passed away in 1974. Nevertheless, he would be satisfied with and would instantly recognize the calls which Allen Jenkins is now producing in Thomasville, Georgia, because they have forever established the Lynch name and World Champion tradition in turkey hunting lore.
Today, 40 years after he asked his mentor to critique his carefully planned handiwork, sportsmanship, craftsmanship and the hunting tradition are more important to Allen Jenkins than killing a bird. "After calling and taking scores of gobblers," he reflects, "it is much more satisfying to use one of our calls to call birds for youngsters and new turkey hunters. It is time to light a spark of excitement in the eyes of my children and to pass the thrill of hunting to a new generation."
That is the mark of a true World Champion.
